…Mount Up With Wings Like Eagles…
Team Hoover is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, started in 2012 by a Sunday School class at First Baptist Church, Salisbury Street in Raleigh, NC. Our mission is to raise resources to fight Multiple Sclerosis, raise awareness of the disease, and help those locally who suffer with it.
The Team Hoover community includes friends, neighbors, and extended family from across Raleigh and from other cities and states. The team is named after one of our own, Chris Hoover, who suffers from MS.
A father of triplet girls, a former basketball coach and a model of courage and determination, Chris continues to be our inspiration, but we are here to support ALL who struggle with this disease -our family and friends, and those of others. All resources raised by Team Hoover go toward this mission.
Our goal is to raise awareness of MS, and to raise funds in order to make small grants to people suffering from MS to help cover the costs of equipment or minor home improvements to improve their quality of life.
Our efforts each year include fielding and supporting a team to ride in the Bike MS New Bern Ride , fielding a team to walk in the MS Walk in Raleigh (and occasionally in other places), and hosting the annual Cul-de-Sac party, which is our primary fundraiser.

What is MS?
MS (multiple sclerosis) is an autoimmune condition and chronic disease of the central nervous system. The immune system on a MS patient mistakenly attacks the myelin, which is the coating that protects the nerves. These myeline damages interrupt the signals that the brain sends to various parts of the body and often affect vision, mobility, and sensation. While there is not YET a cure for MS, there are treatments which can help manage symptoms and disease progression. Early diagnosis and treatment is crucial. About one million people in the US have MS. If you would like to learn more about MS, here are a few resources to get started:
